Micropathology have been sending their results out via encrypted PDF email attachment for years. This meant that on the other side of the email, someone had to open and transcribe the results into their hospital's system for the doctors to receive the results. This was taking away from the rapid diagnosis service that Micropathology wanted to provide, which was a big problem when a patient's urgent care relied on some of these results.
There was also the issue that while some laboratories could support direct results transfer, there were many that couldn't. After the cyber attack on the hospitals in Irleand, their Irish clients could no longer receive encrypted email attachments as they could not be scanned properly. We needed a solution that worked for everyone.
I knew that we had to do something to stay in front but I wasn't sure how. This is where they were able to really take over and design something that worked for both us and our clients.
